About Grasshoppah

Grasshoppah began in 2001 when Glenn House III hosted an open mic night at the Radio Tavern (RIP) doing his one-man band show. There he met talented mandolinist, Brian Oberlin. The two hit it off immediately and soon after were looking for a bass player to make a "real band."

Glenn's old buddy, Chris Carr, joined soon after on bass guitar. The first Grasshoppah album, Oh So Young, was released in 2002. It won Folk Album of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2002 Jammie Awards sponsored by radio station 88.1 FM WYCE in Grand Rapids, MI.

Eventually the fellas met Dan Giacobassi, a top-notch flute & saxophone player. The final form of Grasshoppah appeared and ever since has produced a unique blend of bluegrass, rock, folk, blues, jazz, and carribean. In 2005, Grasshoppah released Whoa Mama, which also featured bassist Shane Bullis and percussionist extraordinaire, Bill Vits.
